Sunset Birding at Tempe Marsh with Robert Carter

  • Tempe Marsh 2000 East Rio Salado Parkway Tempe, AZ, 85288 United States (map)

We had so much fun in January, we're doing it again!

East of Tempe Town Lake is Tempe Marsh, a productive habitat throughout the year. A paved multi-use path runs along the southern edge of the Marsh, making for a great raised platform for wildlife viewing. A variety of ducks frequent the area - we got good looks at American Wigeon and Gadwalls last time. Recently Red-tailed Hawks, Belted Kingfisher, Osprey, Rock Wren, and many others have been observed in the area, and many a vagrant have been documented over the years as well. We will begin birding from a stationery platform and make our way west along the paved multi-use path that runs south of the marsh.

We will also have a chance to observe a habitat bordered by development, contemplating all that comes along with that.

Spotting scope and binoculars will be available.
